Never Let Go

Waking one summer morning at 4AM, prayers went heavenward for guidance in the days ahead. Lyrics to a current popular Christian song kept piping through my mind, “I am holding on to you. I am holding on to you. In the middle of the storm, I am holding on to you, I am.”My thoughts were that I must keep holding on to God.  The refrain would not cease so I arose and googled the song.  I listened soaking in the words.  Suddenly I realized that the song was not about me holding onto God, but God holding onto me.  The great “I AM,” the one who loves me beyond measure holds me. 

I had been through a season of great blessing and seen God bring a harvest of servants into the kingdom and equip seasoned warriors for a new season. I look ahead and the curve bends sharply so that I cannot see the road ahead.  I wondered why the Spirit of God kept washing these particular lyrics over my mind and soul. As I reflect on this, I realized that no matter what I am doing or where I am, God’s love will reach me, His peace will find me, and His presence will surround me. This love I have experienced set my heart on fire decades ago and still burns strong.  I desire to be overwhelmed with “a joy divine,” which burst forth in laughter, song, prayer and testimony. 

I love the lyrics, “This is my resurrection song. This is my hallelujah come, This is why it’s to you I run.”    Yes, I thought… my hallelujah come.  No matter what season that curve ahead leads me into, I can praise God for His amazing love and amazing grace that has no boundaries.   He is holding on to me – forever.  I am turning my face towards him – always. He opens His arms wide and I run safely into them with my face buried against his heart, My Father and my Lord.
